Ukrainian esports players and athletes have been performing very well lately. Natus Vincere have been invited to CS:GO event EPICENTER 2019, while Vasyl Lomachenko becomes the World Boxing Council’s Franchise Champion. The athlete has received the prestige title during the WBC’s annual congress, which was held in Mexico.

About the Title

The Ukrainian athlete has received the WBC’s Franchise Champion title in lightweight. The decision was made at request of Lomachenko’s promoters from Top Rank. They filed the request during the WBC’s convention in Cancún.

What Does the Title Mean

WBC’s Franchise Champion means that Lomachenko will have to worthily represent WBC in any fight, regardless of terms. From now one each Vasyl Lomachenko’s rival will be sanctioned by WBC through his promoters.

What Else Changes

The previous holder of the WBC’s Franchise Champion title was Saul Alvarez. The Mexican boxer received his title in recognition of his great services in the boxing industry.

Simultaneously with Lomechenko receiving his title, the 20-years-old American boxer Devin Haney become the WBC lightweight champion.

What Happens Next

In the next year’s first half, Vasyl Lomachenko in his new status will face the IBF titleholder. The opponent of the Ukrainian boxer will be determined on December 14th, when Richard Commey will fight Teofimo Lopez.
