IG Defeat Spirit in TI10’s First Playoffs Match
Invictus Gaming have won the first playoffs match of The International 10. There they faced Team Spirit, who surprisingly managed to win the first map and had a lead in the beginning of the second one. Later, however, IG managed to turn the series in their favour and win it with a 2-1 score.
The Chinese team will continue its path through the Upper Bracket – on October 14 they will face the winner of the match between Team Secret and OG, which is the next series of the day. Meanwhile Team Spirit have dropped to the lower bracket, where tomorrow they will play with either Undying or Fnatic.
With this victory, IG have guaranteed themselves at least the 5th – 6th place at the event, which gives out $1,400,6000 in prize money. Earlier we reported that IG were allowed to the tournament’s venue after two subsequent negative tests for COVID-19.
The playoffs stage of The International 10 is running from October 7th to 17th, featuring sixteen teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. While most of the series are best-of-three, the first round of the lower round will be best-of-one, and the grand finalists will play up to five maps.
