Hobbit Returns to Gambit Esports

Abay "Hobbit" Khassenov has returned to Gambit Esports to become an in-game leader of its academy team. With the addition of Hobbit the team transitions to a six players format.

26-years-old Kazakh player was part of Gambit Esports between 2016 and 2018, managing to emerge victorious at PGL Major Krakow 2017 and win a couple of other big events, such as ROG Masters 2017, DreamHack Open Austin 2017 and DreamHack Open Winter 2016. After leaving Gambit, Hobbit played for HellRaisers and Winstrike Team without finding much success.

According to the organization’s official statement the team will be trying out the six players format for the following few months. Besides that, the team will continue to be called Gambit Youngsters until it is constantly placed top-30 in the world rating and/or qualified for a major.

Gambit Esports have not had a main CS:GO roster since early 2019. The organization decided to open their youth squad, initially called Gambit Academy, last April. Since then the team has been competing mostly without roster changes. Currently they are ranked #28 in the world and #6 in the CIS region.
