Hearthstone World Championship to Take Place this December
Blizzard Entertainment have announced that Hearthstone World Championship 2020 will be played online on December 12th – 13th. The event will feature top eight players from all regions competing for a $500,000 prize pool.
The first four places at the event were secured by the winners of the first season of the regional Grandmasters events, among which are Sato "glory" Kenta from Japan, Vladislav "SilverName" Sinotov from Russia, Brian "bloodyface" Eason from the United States, and Fan "Syf" Yilun from China. The rest of the participants will be determined in the coming months – on November 15th for China and on October 11th for the rest of the regions.
Hearthstone World Championship 2020 will start with a group stage, where eight players will be split into two GSL groups. Then top two players from each groups will advance to a single-elimination bracket. All regular series will be best-of-three, while the grand finals will be best-of-five.
