Dota Pro Circuit to Resume in January

VALVE, continuing their new approach on communication with their players, have published a new blog, where they talk about renewal of Dota Pro Circuit, start of the next season, new hero release and more.

The official series of tournaments Dota Pro Circuit was put on hold with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The last DPC event – StarLadder Dota 2 Minor 3 – was held in March. Since then there have been no official Dota 2 tournaments. According to the blog, they will return already in January.

The new season of Dota Pro Circuit is scheduled to start on January 18th. It will consist of six regional leagues. Each league will see sixteen participants distributed across two divisions. The best teams from each region will qualify for the first Major of the season. The developers hope to reveal additional information “soon”.

Talking about the upcoming updates for the game, the developers announced that the release of the new hero was postponed from late November to mid December and will become available alongside update 7.28. Meanwhile, December 1st will mark the launch a new season for Dota Plus, which will reset seasonal quests, add a new seasonal treasure and more. The developers also continue working on the new Overwatch feature, which will allow players to review suspicious matches.

Earlier in their October blog VALVE shared that they had received a lot of negative feedback for being quiet about the game’s future and decided to share more information with the community. According to the blog, they intend to release updates more frequently and will add “at least few new heroes” to the game next year.
