Chinese Teams will not Attend ESL One Stockholm Dota Major 2022

Dota 2 publisher in China and the organizer of the local Dota Pro Circuit have confirmed that Chinese teams are not able to travel to Sweden to compete at the upcoming major ESL One Stockholm 2022. While the company has not explained the reasons behind the issue, it is most likely due to the recent strict lockdown measures in Shanghai.

These four teams – PSG.LGD, Xtreme Gaming, Team Aster and Royal Never Give Up – will instead play in the regional finale, where they will battle it out in an elimination bracket. The finale is scheduled for May 6th – 8th. Meanwhile ESL explained that the Chinese teams will not be replaced at the major, thus its line-up will consist of just 14 teams.

ESL One Stockholm 2022 is scheduled for May 12th – 22nd and will be this year’s first Dota 2 major, as the previous one was cancelled and replaced with regional finals. The line-up will be finalized on May 2nd with the conclusion of the Eastern European Dota Pro Circuit, however we already know most of the participants:

  • Western Europe: OG, Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, Tundra Esports
  • Southeast Asia: Fnatic, BOOM Esports, T1
  • North America: Evil Geniuses, TSM
  • South America: Thunder Awaken, beastcoast
